SHAREit’s Multicultural DNA, Key Driver of Its Global Hypergrowth
People build businesses and for one of the fastest growing media publishers in the world, this cannot be more true. SHAREit interviewed 5 employees from multiple geographies and backgrounds to determine what makes them tick at work
We often get asked what is the secret sauce for SHAREit’s meteoric rise over the past years. It is none other than its people, according to Karam Malhotra, Partner and Global Vice-President at SHAREit Group.
To build the next chapter of its growth story, SHAREit will amp up its focus on people. People build businesses, businesses don’t build people, says Arunabh Madhur, Regional VP and Head Business EMEA. Moving forth as one team while building the SHAREit community is a sole focus for him. With roots in India, he is responsible for setting a futuristic template for product, global teams and revenues, but is driven by one key question: what is the right set of values guiding us as one. He also emphasizes on how being nimble has helped SHAREit stay ahead of the curve in a fast paced world of technology. The ad tech industry has moved many folds with the pandemic being one of the growth drivers, seeing a massive increase in subscription of videos and gaming, which is why the SHAREit product has had to evolve very fast, in his opinion.
Indonesia has been one of the primary growth markets for SHAREit’s clients, consisting of a huge and highly sticky user base. Aat Pangestu Hadi, Country Sales Director at the SHAREit Group who calls Indonesia home echoes his views as he speaks about the high level of adaptability and market leadership that SHAREit has showcased. People don’t like to click a lot and companies should be following a three click rule for any digital experiences they design. Since he first joined SHAREit, the product has evolved considerably but the people are the same, pointing at the stickiness of SHAREit’s employees, just like its user base. Having indulged in rally racing as a junior professional racer, he thrives on fast pace and utilizes learnings he imbibed during that time at work, such as how to be disciplined, being prepared for the race ahead and adapt.
Cross exchange of learnings between personal and professional lives looks to be common amongst SHAREit employees. Deborah Urbach Malheiro, who is a working mom and the sales lead for LATAM at the SHAREit Group, has a passion for the outdoors, especially trekking, and her adventurous spirit feeds her sales career as well. A dynamic sales person working remotely from Tel Aviv, she is looking to grow her sales team in a rapidly evolving industry that is witnessing an app explosion. With the goal to establish SHAREit in the Latam market, she stresses on the importance of building meaningful connections, something SHAREit has been able to do effectively be it users, customers or employees. She also expressed the openness of SHAREit to entertain new ideas.
An idea can come from any level, says Martin Lim, Global Commercial Finance & Sales Operations VP at SHAREit Group who resonates with Deborah. He has bagged several awards over years for going beyond the call of duty and delivering exceptional results. With a team of 15 spread across the globe, he heads end to end sales, oversees more than 300 clients daily and ensures customer success is at the core. While holding regular check ins and pow wow meetings with teams, he strives to infuse energy and maximize alignment in cross functional departments based across geographies. He values the impact he is having on the company’s growth, the global opportunities that SHAREit opens up, and the fact that he is working with one of the smartest and diverse teams across time zones.
Providing growth and learning opportunities to employees is one of the reasons behind SHAREit’s strong employee retention rates. As one of our earliest employees, Punit Harsh, Director of Marketing and Strategic Alliances, started his journey with the company in 2017. From launching the fintech business to content to user acquisition, he added various skill sets as he moved from one chapter to another within SHAREit. From a small team I have seen SHAREit grow into the global giant that it is, as a company that has stuck by its employees and offered the very best to them despite the macroeconomic factors. He recounts his most memorable experiences as being those that pushed him to step out of his comfort zone strengthening his capabilities as a leader.
SHAREit’s hypergrowth over the past few years has helped set a strong foundation for its global expansion in the time to come. While innovating products and services, SHAREit will continue to empower its employees and energize them with new opportunities.
